Who is adult day care for?
Adult day care is designed for older adults, individuals with chronic health needs, memory challenges, or those recovering from illness or surgery. It’s also helpful for caregivers who need reliable daytime support while working or resting.
What activities are offered at adult day care?
Most adult day care programs provide group activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, and social events. At Penn Village, we also provide nutritious meals, wellness checks, and opportunities for seniors to stay active and engaged throughout the day.
Why choose adult day care instead of hiring a private caregiver?
Adult day care provides structured social interaction and activities that private caregivers often cannot replicate. It also ensures consistent oversight from trained staff, plus opportunities for peer connection in a community setting.
How do I know if adult day care is right for my loved one?
If your loved one feels isolated, needs supervision during the day, or would benefit from a safe and engaging environment, adult day care is likely a great fit. Visiting Penn Village for a tour is the best way to see if our program matches your family’s needs.
What is the difference between adult day care and a senior center?
Adult day care provides supervised care, structured activities, and health support for adults who need extra assistance during the day. Senior centers, on the other hand, are social gathering spaces for independent older adults. Penn Village blends both — offering community and connection, with professional care when needed.
What types of adult day care programs are available?
Most centers, including Penn Village, offer social, health-focused, and specialized programs. Social programs emphasize companionship and recreation. Health models add medical and therapeutic support. Specialized programs are designed for individuals with conditions like Alzheimer’s or dementia.
How does adult day care differ from in-home care?
In-home care provides one-on-one support at home, while adult day care offers a social setting with group activities, meals, and structured care. Many families choose day care for the community experience and the opportunity for loved ones to engage with peers.
What therapeutic or wellness activities are offered?
Activities at Penn Village are designed to strengthen the mind and body — from music, games, and crafts to light exercise and cognitive activities. Every activity encourages connection, creativity, and emotional well-being.
Do you provide transportation to and from the center?
Yes. Penn Village offers transportation options to make it easy for participants to arrive safely and return home at the end of the day. Our staff coordinates pickup and drop-off based on your location and schedule.
What qualifications do your caregivers and staff have?
Our team includes trained professionals with backgrounds in nursing, social services, and adult care. Staff members are CPR-certified and receive ongoing education to meet state standards and provide compassionate, attentive care.
What makes Penn Village different from other adult day programs
Penn Village focuses on connection and purpose. Each day blends structure with choice, offering participants meaningful activities, social engagement, and personalized attention in a warm, community setting. Families trust us for our balance of professional care and genuine human connection.
Can participants attend part-time or on specific days only
Absolutely. Attendance is flexible, allowing families to choose the schedule that works best for their needs. Many participants attend a few days a week to stay active and engaged while caregivers manage other responsibilities.
What happens if my loved one needs medical attention during the day
Penn Village staff are trained to respond quickly to medical needs. We monitor health closely throughout the day and will contact families and medical professionals if care beyond our scope is required. Safety and communication come first.
How do you ensure participant safety and supervision
Our facility is secure, with trained staff present at all times. Daily check-ins, structured activities, and thoughtful supervision help ensure every participant is cared for and comfortable. We maintain low staff-to-participant ratios to provide individualized attention.
Do you offer programs for individuals with disabilities
Yes. Penn Village welcomes adults with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. Each program is tailored to match ability levels and promote independence, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
How do you personalize care for each participant
Before enrollment, we learn about each individual’s background, interests, and care needs. This allows us to create a plan that supports their health, independence, and emotional well-being — whether through favorite activities, social engagement, or gentle daily routines.
What are the signs my loved one could benefit from adult day care
If your loved one shows signs of isolation, forgetfulness, or difficulty managing daily routines, adult day care can help. It offers structure, companionship, and professional oversight without requiring a move from home.
What’s the daily routine like at Penn Village
Days at Penn Village are a blend of structure and enjoyment. Participants begin with morning social time, followed by engaging activities, meals, rest, and afternoon programs. Every moment is designed to balance stimulation with comfort.
